Keto Diet yes/no?

2019-03-23T08:43:48-04:00Tuesday, March 19, 2019|

So many people today are curious about the keto or ketogenic diet. Basically its is a very low-carb diet, designed can help you burn fat more effectively. Here you’ll learn how to eat a keto diet based on real foods. And for added benefit I highly recommend adding this KETO DRINK 1. Intro: What is the keto diet? What “keto” means The “keto” in a ketogenic diet comes from the fact that it allows the body to produce small fuel molecules called “ketones”.3 This is an alternative fuel source for the body, used when blood sugar (glucose) is in short supply. Ketones are produced if you eat very few carbs (that are quickly broken down into blood sugar) and only moderate amounts of protein (excess protein can also be converted to blood sugar). The liver produces ketones from fat. These ketones then serve as a fuel source throughout the body, especially for the brain. The brain is a hungry organ that consumes lots of energy every day, and it can’t run on fat directly. It can only run on glucose… or ketones.45 On a ketogenic diet, your entire body switches its fuel supply to run mostly on fat, burning fat 24-7. [...]

Bell Pepper EGGtastic!

2018-10-20T19:19:56-04:00Saturday, October 20, 2018|

Are YOU ready for awesome taste and a unique way to make eggs a visual delight!! When cooked in a frying pan the bell pepper softens slightly and caramelizes. It adds a wonderful crunch to the soft and silky egg yolk Go Gourmet and the bell pepper eggs on top of a slice of avocado toast, and it’s healthy food heaven. Heat a medium-size skillet with a lid over medium-high heat. Spray liberally with cooking spray, or coat with oil. Add in the bell pepper slices, and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, until the peppers begin to soften and brown slightly. Crack an egg into each bell pepper slice. Reduce the head to medium-low, cover, and cook the eggs until the desired yolk is achieved. Alternatively, instead of covering the pan, you can cook on one side for 2-3 minutes, then flip the eggs and cook the other side for 1-2 minutes or until done. Season with salt, pepper, and any other herbs and spices you’d like. Serve on their own or on top of toasted bread. For more creative food inspirations, check back regularly!

My favorite Chocolate Cake Every once in a while you have to indulge!  Just try to use the best ingredients, real chocolate and enjoy!     Forbes Riley Chocolate Cake Prep time 10 mins Cook Time 35 mins Ingredients butter and flour for coating and dusting the cake pan 3 cups all-purpose flour 3 cups granulated sugar 1½ cups unsweetened cocoa powder 1 tablespoon baking soda 1½ teaspoons baking powder 1½ teaspoons salt 4 large eggs 1½ cups buttermilk 1½ cups warm water ½ cup vegetable oil 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter three 9-inch cake rounds. Dust with flour and tap out the excess. (see cooking lesson below) Mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a stand mixer using a low speed until combined. Add eggs, buttermilk, warm water, oil, and vanilla. Beat on a medium speed until smooth. This should take just a couple of minutes. Divide batter among the three pans. I found that it took just over 3 cups of the batter to divide it evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the cake meets the toothpick test (stick a toothpick in and it comes out clean). [...]

Getting Kids to Juice!

2017-08-12T15:49:10-04:00Tuesday, June 7, 2016|Tags: , , , |

People always ask me, 'How do you get kids to eat healthy?" The answer is simple - feed them healthy - may sound easy but before most children are 2 years old they have been inundated with sugar, birthday cake, candy, high fructose corn syrup, cereals, ice cream and the list goes on... food that if you truly realized how bad it was - you wouldn't feed to someone who hated - but now you are noticing you're feeding it your most precious loved ones -- they are getting desensitized to taste, further away from raw, natural flavors and the heading towards early diabetes, obesity and a host of health problems. If its true you ARE WHAT YOU EAT - then lets start with natural, nutrition rich ingredients to help build our young ones as strong and healthy as possible yes?   replace sugar drinks with fresh natural juices (adding in veggies) offer them water whenever possible involve them in the cook process in the kitchen talk about what food really is and why we eat - and if you don't know, lets get educated!

A pineAPPLE a day!

2017-08-12T15:51:47-04:00Monday, May 2, 2016|Tags: , , , |

Doctors talk about an apple a day well - good news for Hawaii - Pineapples are IDEAL for Weight Loss! 1. Fresh, raw pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain that aids digestion by breaking down protein in the digestive tract. This promotes muscle strength and elasticity, and we know that muscle burns more calories than fat! 2. The bromelain enzyme contains potassium, so it actually neutralizes sodium, arginine and some acids. This helps eliminate water from your body, flushing fat out with it...making it a natural diuretic. It even drains adipose tissue, thus being a treatment for cellulite. 3. Pineapple is also anti-inflammatory which helps solve many stomach and intestinal problems. 4. Pineapple contains no fat, and is a low calorie, low energy density fruit which means more food for less calories. Why not eat fresh pineapple instead of having a sugary dessert?! (1 serving = app. 1⁄2 cup = about 40 calories) 5. The high fiber content in pineapples makes you feel full (causing you to stop eating) and helps keep your bowels consistent. 6. Pineapple is 87% water which helps you feel full and increases your water intake, both of which are good for weight loss. 7. [...]

Paleo Pumpkin Bread

2018-10-20T23:37:42-04:00Saturday, April 16, 2016|

This Paleo Pumpkin Bread recipe is a staple for the holidays. It’s gluten-free, dairy-free, extremely moist, deliciously spiced and smells amazing coming out of the oven. It’s a one-bowl, no-fail recipe that you’ll make again and again. I rarely have recipes turn out perfect on first attempt, but this paleo pumpkin bread recipe did just that. The base on this paleo pumpkin bread recipe – almond flour, tapioca flour, baking soda, salt, butter (or coconut oil) and vanilla extract. But instead of mashed bananas we’ll used organic canned pumpkin and instead of honey we’ll use maple syrup. Then, we’ll add a good amount of pumpkin spice and call it a day. The best part about this recipe is that it only takes one bowl. Just add all the ingredients into a mixing bowl and use a hand mixer to quickly blend everything together. Pour it into your loaf pan (you can get fancy with this loaf pan) and place it in the oven. Super easy. When it comes out of the oven your kitchen will smell divine. And needless to say, it’s the perfect breakfast bread to serve up for Thanksgiving. Or any fall weekend. I top my Paleo Pumpkin [...]
