People always ask me, 'How do you get kids to eat healthy?" The answer is simple - feed them healthy - may sound easy but before most children are 2 years old they have been inundated with sugar, birthday cake, candy, high fructose corn syrup, cereals, ice cream and the list goes on... food that if you truly realized how bad it was - you wouldn't feed to someone who hated - but now you are noticing you're feeding it your most precious loved ones -- they are getting desensitized to taste, further away from raw, natural flavors and the heading towards early diabetes, obesity and a host of health problems. If its true you ARE WHAT YOU EAT - then lets start with natural, nutrition rich ingredients to help build our young ones as strong and healthy as possible yes? replace sugar drinks with fresh natural juices (adding in veggies) offer them water whenever possible involve them in the cook process in the kitchen talk about what food really is and why we eat - and if you don't know, lets get educated!
Doctors talk about an apple a day well - good news for Hawaii - Pineapples are IDEAL for Weight Loss! 1. Fresh, raw pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain that aids digestion by breaking down protein in the digestive tract. This promotes muscle strength and elasticity, and we know that muscle burns more calories than fat! 2. The bromelain enzyme contains potassium, so it actually neutralizes sodium, arginine and some acids. This helps eliminate water from your body, flushing fat out with it...making it a natural diuretic. It even drains adipose tissue, thus being a treatment for cellulite. 3. Pineapple is also anti-inflammatory which helps solve many stomach and intestinal problems. 4. Pineapple contains no fat, and is a low calorie, low energy density fruit which means more food for less calories. Why not eat fresh pineapple instead of having a sugary dessert?! (1 serving = app. 1⁄2 cup = about 40 calories) 5. The high fiber content in pineapples makes you feel full (causing you to stop eating) and helps keep your bowels consistent. 6. Pineapple is 87% water which helps you feel full and increases your water intake, both of which are good for weight loss. 7. [...]

Come take a backstage look at sneak into my dressing during a fitness photo shoot - just one of the amazing and fun things we do here in St Pete at my studio - Forbes Riley Studios 2 of my FAVORITE female fitness models Rali Ivanova owes her exotic looks to Bulgarian, Russian and Italian ancestry, but she calls Bulgaria home, because she was born and raised in Varna. Her extraordinary beauty caught the eye of a cosmetic company and she started modelling at the age of 15. Four years later she made the biggest step in her life and moved to USA, chasing her dream to live in sunny Florida. She remembers that it took her a while to get used to the American environment, but today she loves her glamor life in the beautiful city of Tampa. While having cocktails with friends on the beach, a photographer noticed her and offered her to shoot for a local calendar. She gave it a try and that’s how her professional modelling career started. The way she posed and [...]

Love the Line - I'm not really a doctor, I just play one on TV! It must have been amazing to work on the set of ER or Chicago Hope and play doctor - well this week I got to "play" doctor in the controversial film Blurred Lines focusing on the rights of TransGender - my character is not very sympathetic - so you'll have to watch to see how it turns out!
SpinGym on the BEACH! I grew up on Long Island and the beach was my playground - all summer and often in the winter it made an amazing get away - I always feel rejuvenated and alive near the ocean. Is it the breeze, the sound of the waves - perhaps the sand between toes - I just LOVE it all! There is nothing like a day at the beach to zero in on your dreams, release your stress and breathe in all life has to offer! Today I’m sharing 10 reasons why the beach is healthy for you. It is worth the little bit of sand on your toes and full body sun-block. Read on! Salt water: there is nothing more therapeutic for your joints and muscles than a soak in salt water. The ocean can heal little cuts and scrapes and if you take a minute to exfoliate with a little sand, you’re skin will be grateful for days. (Just remember to reapply sunscreen after time in the salt water and sand – it can eat away your suntan lotion). Sense of stimulation: Take a minute to see the gorgeous surf, sand and sky combination – it is glorious any time of day. Smell the salty [...]
We Love Nurses! For industries with aging employees, such as nursing, the goal of a healthy workforce may be even more important to mitigate health changes associated with aging and to help nurses retain their ability to manage the physical demands of caring for patients. The average age of a nurse in the US is nearing 50 years (American Nursing 2011). Trusted professionals such as nurses have a distinct opportunity to educate not only patients, but also each other, about healthy lifestyle choices that incorporate a balance of exercise and proper nutrition. At the regional nursing convention I had the chance to teach more than 200 nurses how to SpinGym (especially wonderful as my daughter Makenna helped as well) The response was extraordinary and many plan to incorporate the workout into their daily routine and for patients that can handle it as well -- a win / win all round! www.SpinGym.com

This could be one of my FAVORITE reviews on SpinGym - found on Amazon A guy who loves the Forbes Riley Spin Gym!! By PMG on March 24, 2011 I have been using the Spin Gym this past month and have really taken to this little gadget with the big results. I have arthritis in my lower back so lifting big, bulky, heavy weights is not an option for me anymore (and I'm in my mid 30s). I have to be careful with what I do, and what I love about the Spin Gym is that I can still work my chest, back, arms, even abs and legs all with one functioning and functionable product. And guys....don't think you won't get an amazing workout!! You get so much bang for your buck with Spin Gym. You get two workout DVDs that creates variety and challenge. You can use it at your own pace. You can get up to 20 lbs. of resistance depending on the rate your spinning. My favorite exercises are "hugging a tree", "climbing a ladder", "arrow", and "lawnmower". When I do the abs workout, trying to do a crunch and keeping Spin Gym spinning is a challenge that my [...]

9 WORDS WOMEN USE... (1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up. (2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house. (3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine. (4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It! (5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.) (6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake. (7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome. [...]
Had a GREAT Ski Trip with my twins - stayed at the Canyons Park City Fun on the slopes -- its cold in January, crisp and alive - we had so much fun! Makenna focused on learning to snowboard, Ryker skied and I babies a bum knee! BEST SKI WORKOUT - WATCH THIS New Year's Eve 2016 SNOW WARS BEGIN!! The CRATER! One of the unique activities at our Midway Utah Resort is our one-of-a-kind Homestead Crater. The Crater is a geothermal spring, hidden within a 55-foot tall, beehive-shaped limestone rock located on the Homestead property. Over 10,000 years in the making, The Crater formed when melting snow on the Wasatch Mountains seeped deep within the earth. Two miles below the surface, the earth’s interior heated the water. As it percolated upward, it picked up minerals, which were then deposited on the surface — eventually forming the volcano-shaped limestone deposit called The Homestead [...]
Its new year 2016! New Year, healthier you New Year’s resolutions are a bit like babies: They’re fun to make but extremely difficult to maintain. Each January, roughly one in three Americans resolve to better themselves in some way but sadly a much smaller percentage of people actually make good on those resolutions. It's hard to keep up the enthusiasm months after you've swept up the confetti, but it's not impossible. This year, pick one of the following worthy resolutions, and stick with it. Here’s to your health! Lose weight The fact that this is perennially among the most popular resolutions suggests just how difficult it is to commit to. But you can succeed if you don’t expect overnight success. A highly recommend starting a journal - for you food and your mental health - my favorite www.myeatjournal.com Quit smoking I watched both my parents die from smoking and it is mind bending to me that even though it clearly says on the package that smoking WILL cause cancer... we can't seem to fight the addiction. My personal recommendation after you've tried will power and patches - is hypnosis -- I will have a new CD out and if you'd like more info [...]
In a place far away in a much simpler time - I had a chance to meet an American Hero, Olympic Decathlon Gold Medalist and superstar athlete. His name was Bruce Jenner. In light of all that's happening the WAS in very appropriate because apparently he is gone. I am a bit sad about that. Does that mean he died? I support the new Caitlyn Jenner as she seems happy and fulfilling a lifelong dream to complete her/his identity. My heart hurts though, it must have been a life full of serious inner turmoil and conflict and I just happy now it seems to be a positive path. But where did Bruce go? I just came across my some old photos and wanted to share them. Whenever a human reaches extraordinary heights and serves as an inspiration they should be honored... and in my own little way here's to Bruce!
