Alaska Trip

2017-10-27T11:10:54-04:00Thursday, August 24, 2017|

I think everyone has that "Alaska Cruise" trip on their bucket list - I sure did and grateful I didn't wait until I was too old to really enjoy it!  Our journey with the twins was much more that the cruise.  As usual on a Riley adventure we needed to add MORE! So we arrive 7 days prior to the cruise and flew into Anchorage.  What a sight -- right out of the movies.  From their we set out to find a remote fishing venue and took a seaplane from Kodiak to Afognack Lodge -- trust me, the pictures are amazing but simply cannot do the trip justice.  We caught fish, saw bears feeding on salmon from the stream and frolic with their cubs, watch whales and just thoroughly enjoyed the bliss of nature at its finest.... please enjoy the pix and don't miss this glorious state up north - its a wonder to behold!

Best Travel Fitness Workout: SpinGym

2017-08-12T15:49:09-04:00Sunday, June 19, 2016|

Imagine get fit before, after and WHILE you travel - That is the beauty, ease and convenience of the SpinGym.   No matter what kind of trip you're taking, there's one thing is certain: Our normal routines get thrown out the window when traveling- yes?? • If you work out in a gym, suddenly you might not have access to any equipment. • If you run around your neighborhood, suddenly you no longer have a familiar path to follow. • If you usually prepare your own meals, suddenly you don’t have a kitchen or fridge. • If you’re used to a good night’s sleep, suddenly you’re sleeping at odd hours in different time zones. Your exercise needs to become your constant while traveling – make a commitment to yourself that you will find at least one hour every other day to exercise – NO EXCUSES.  Add it to your calendar, set up an email reminder, do whatever it takes, but don’t take no for an answer.  You might need to wake up early one day to fit it in.  You might need to exercise at 11PM at night on another day. so here are some fitness travel ideas Go on [...]

Scientific Reasons to GO TO THE BEACH!

2017-08-12T15:51:48-04:00Friday, April 15, 2016|

BEACH, SUN, FUN and YOUR HEALTH! 1. You're more relaxed along the coast Look at the picture. Stress free, right? The very sight of it can subconsciously calms you...  Pictures of urban landscapes elicited activity in the parts of our brains associated with stress, studies have shown participants who were shown nature pictures had heightened activity in the parts associated with “positive outlook, emotional stability and the recollection of happy memories.”  Its warm, fresher air and as long as you don't take you laptop -- you WILL be more relaxed! 2. Water returns us to our natural state                        We’re connected to water from the onset of life. Babies’ bodies are 75 percent water. As we age, we become drier (only 60 percent), but our brains are still three-fourths water and even our bones are 31 percent water. Simply - When you see or hear the ocean, you know “you’re in the right place.” 3. Blue, it turns out, is the world’s favorite color.  A 2003 research project that surveyed 232 people from around the world about their associations with various colors. Forty-two percent of men said blue was their favorite color, while 35 [...]

This sign represents SO many things - think about the amazing memories you have from travel - I personally have toured Europe on my own with a backpack when I was just 21, taken my twins to experience China, cruised through Alaska, trekked around Africa, scuba dived off the coast of Turks & Caicos and on and on.  In truth, the only trips I regret are the ones I didn't take!  How often does time and money and responsibilities get in the way of you enjoying a vacation?  I cherish my experiences and will share so many of them along with a private collection of photos - so we can BOTH experience the adventures :) On a side note - if money is a barrier to you enjoying travel - I am part of the world LARGEST travel club that gets amazing savings on trips including $69 cruises, a week in an all inclusive resort in Mexico for under $300 and SO much more visit my site http://ForbesRiley.worldventures.biz

Africa

2017-08-12T15:51:52-04:00Saturday, September 5, 2015|

One of the most adventures I ever went on was a 6 week trip to Africa.  I have dear friends who live in Lake Navaisha and thought it would be a great Christmas/New Years (1998-1999) trip.  I was MORE than right.  I will never forget. Some highlights include getting to pet Cheetahs - note to self - these was NOT a scheduled tour nor were they tamed.  I have a friend Junie Zwager who owns a game reserve and I am profoundly lucky that I didn't get hurt that day.  I was just mesmerized by the giant and gently cats and took a chance.  I DO NOT recommend it. :)

5 Fun Travel Tips

2017-08-12T15:51:59-04:00Wednesday, August 5, 2015|

I got the travel bug from my family and we would LOVE to take trips together.  Back when I was little we didn't have a lot of money so we would travel mostly in the US and for a while owned a motor home.  It was fun, more convenient than having to pack up and stay in hotels and I think it helped make my family very close.  We did not however, ever make it out of this country and glorious as the USA is, I've personally visited 40 States - I craved seeing the rest of the world and experiencing different cultures - here are some tips I want to share that can add spice to your trips abroad. Patience is Important.  Nothing when you travel is quite the way you expect.  Planes get delayed, hotels don't have your reservation, the waiter doesn't speak English and you're starving - The best advice - truly don’t sweat the stuff you can’t control. Life is much too short to be angry & annoyed all the time. Take a breath and count your blessings (it could always be worse!) Then look around - most people are not nearly as lucky as you [...]

White Water Rafting

2017-08-12T15:51:59-04:00Tuesday, July 7, 2015|

This trip was the 2nd time my twins and I had been river rafting and it was FUN though a bit colder and rainer than the first time in Colorado.  We were at a Dude Ranch in Tennessee for Spring Break and with the Great Smoky Mountains as our backdrop we ventured forth down the Upper Pigeon River.  It was a 2 hour guided trip with just the 3 of us in the raft and our local amazing guide. We rafted through class III rapids known as: Power House, Too Late, Vegematic, Razor Blade and After Shave, to name just a few of the 12 rapids on the river. The class IV rapids are known as: Lost Guide, Double Reactionary, and Accelerator. The Pigeon River is a dam controlled river with best trips from Mid-May to Mid-September and the water levels are  determined by Progress Energy.   The photos speak for themselves
