Every once in a while you just meet someone who dramatically changes your life. I met Forbes through a mutual Los Angeles acquaintance and we began to know each other a little better from Facebook and phone conversations. It was the phone call that I had with her a few weeks ago to interview her for this article, where the little fat food and bad exercise switch went off and the healthy habit switch went on. I called Forbes today to tell her that I was having trouble writing the article about her because I needed to go back and get quotes because about ½ way through the interview I stopped writing and just started listening to her intensely. After a two hour conversation, I realized I had like 2 pages of notes and was in trouble. I called today and she said, “I just got off the phone with someone telling me I changed their life forever.” I said, “Well, Forbes, it’s gonna be an even better day because I’m calling to tell you that too. First I need to tell you that I need better quotes from you from our conversation. But before I do that I need [...]

Alaska Trip

2017-10-27T11:10:54+00:00 Thursday, August 24, 2017|

I think everyone has that "Alaska Cruise" trip on their bucket list - I sure did and grateful I didn't wait until I was too old to really enjoy it!  Our journey with the twins was much more that the cruise.  As usual on a Riley adventure we needed to add MORE! So we arrive 7 days prior to the cruise and flew into Anchorage.  What a sight -- right out of the movies.  From their we set out to find a remote fishing venue and took a seaplane from Kodiak to Afognack Lodge -- trust me, the pictures are amazing but simply cannot do the trip justice.  We caught fish, saw bears feeding on salmon from the stream and frolic with their cubs, watch whales and just thoroughly enjoyed the bliss of nature at its finest.... please enjoy the pix and don't miss this glorious state up north - its a wonder to behold!

My favorite Chocolate Cake Every once in a while you have to indulge!  Just try to use the best ingredients, real chocolate and enjoy!     Forbes Riley Chocolate Cake Prep time 10 mins Cook Time 35 mins Ingredients butter and flour for coating and dusting the cake pan 3 cups all-purpose flour 3 cups granulated sugar 1½ cups unsweetened cocoa powder 1 tablespoon baking soda 1½ teaspoons baking powder 1½ teaspoons salt 4 large eggs 1½ cups buttermilk 1½ cups warm water ½ cup vegetable oil 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter three 9-inch cake rounds. Dust with flour and tap out the excess. (see cooking lesson below) Mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a stand mixer using a low speed until combined. Add eggs, buttermilk, warm water, oil, and vanilla. Beat on a medium speed until smooth. This should take just a couple of minutes. Divide batter among the three pans. I found that it took just over 3 cups of the batter to divide it evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the cake meets the toothpick test (stick a toothpick in and it comes out clean). [...]

Forbes Riley, Former Actress Finds A New Role And Spins It Into Millions   May 30, 2013 FORBES RILEY One of the reasons I started my website is that I wanted a place for women to come together and dream. We women need to know that we don’t have to hang on to an old dream that has stopped nurturing us — that there is always time to start a new dream. This week’s story is about a woman who hoped to become a famous actress — and sold health and fitness products for others as a side job. But when her acting career wasn’t getting her the gigs she wanted, she knew it was time to embrace the job she’d been doing all along. Now, the infomercial maven has launched her own product line, and she’s become the star of her fitness empire. -– MarloThomas.com By Lori Weiss Forbes Riley is the billion-dollar woman. Actually, she’s brought in $2 billion, if you add up all the products she’s sold on TV. But that money isn’t in her bank account. With 119 infomercials on her resume, she’s sold enough health and fitness products to win a place in the Fitness Hall of Fame [...]

SUCCESS in BUSINESS

2017-08-12T15:49:03+00:00 Tuesday, November 1, 2016|

Success in Business 5 amazing clues - because success leave clues yes?! 1. Take a simplistic approach Listing down your tasks doesn’t have to be overwhelming. You don’t need a lot of planning software and apps just to get your work done. In fact, it can be as simple as using a pen and paper. When creating your list, it will be helpful if you can break it down into specific activities. If you’re scheduled to clean your room on a Sunday, you can create sub-tasks, such as making your bed, taking out the curtains and vacuuming the carpet. 2. Get organized If you are the type of person who likes keeping hard copies of your bills, there’s a good chance you can be keeping piles of paper on your work desk or home, too. To make sure these things don’t block your productivity, it’s a good idea to store them in dedicated folder racks and holders. You can create labels for them so you’ll know right away which ones should be prioritized and which needs to be thrown away. Instead of taking a 5-minute break each time you’re starting to feel bored with your tasks, promise yourself уou’ll get a reward after the day’s goal is done. It can [...]
